Dear Catherine and Graham:  It is with much regret that I won't be there this weekend.  I hope that you pass my regrets on and invite anyone who comes to Nanaimo, to look me up and we'll go for coffee and visit.  I would really like that. I have an iphone and can call Vancouver for free.  Hope you all will have a good time.  I send my love to all of you.  I hope there will be lots of pics of the event. Brigitte

Greetings Classmates!Byron and I have been married for 37 years, and we've been living on 'island time' in the Comox Valley for over 30 years.  We have 2 daughters whose ages are 27 (living in Vancouver) and 28 (living in Toronto).  We love to travel and, because Byron is self employed and has somewhat of a flexible schedule, we have been fortunate to have had many opportunities to do so.  Currently I'm an admin. assistant in an elementary school which isn't like a real job, but I am looking forward to retirement when I'll have more time to play with my friends, play in my garden, play my piano (I'm not very good at the piano part) and hit the road with Byron and the dog in our Airstream. Many thanks to the reunion committee for all your work, and thanks to all who have brought us up to date with your lives since graduation.  Life seldom comes without its challenges, but it seems like our grad class is a very fortunate group.

Moved to White Rock 28 years ago, and have been a Realtor for 20 years.  Married to Ron  (retired Principal) for 37 years and have 2 kids.  What a great job the organizing committee are doing and what a great site.   Life has been great!  We spent most of our time  at Whistler in the Winter and Green Lake in the summer, till 7 years ago.  We now enjoy Maui at Christmas and travelling adventures when we can; most recently Turkey and the Outer Hebrides.  We had a dancer and a hockey player so were extremely busy and active parents.  The great thing about growing up where we did, is we seem to cross paths with so many grads.  What's interesting is our kids seem to cross paths with the offspring as well.  Trevor graduated from UBC and Amy from UVIC. where many kids of grads attended.  It should be a great night and I am looking forward to October.  Cheers to all!

After graduation I worked for the City of Vancouver for 10 years, followed by 9 years on the waterfront working as a longshoreman, and for the past 21 years have been self-employed in the transportation industry.  I have been married for the past 27 years.
As much as I would like to attend, I find that I have another commitment for that weekend and will not be able to attend.

Comment:
I came to PW in grade 10 from Vancouver Island.  After graduating, I worked as a nurses aide and saved enough to put myself through practical nurses training.  Over the years, I have worked as an LPN in various health care settings.  However, I am currently not working due to health challenges. I married and had two sons.  As a single mom doing shift work, it was a juggling act to see the kids participated in their choice of activities outside of school.  It was all worth it as I am proud of who my sons are today and I treasure the times we are able to spend together.  I  am also lucky enough to have a good network of friends.  My interests include scouting, agriculture, global and domestic issues including homelessness.   I was active in a labour union.  Currently belong to a church bazaar craft group making cards, am self-taught on the computer and spiritual.  In the summer, I help with the set prep for a vacation bible school.  I enjoy most forms of music including Brogue celtic folk, bluegrass, etc. Friends and family are important in my life and, though I can't make any commitments at this time to attend the reunion, I would love to hear from some of my old classmates.  Send me a message and I will either write back or phone you when I am able (don't have a computer right now).Looking forward to hearing from you!

How to summarize 40 years? Luck in all forms. 5 healthy kids, married 29 years now, lots of fun in the mineral exploration business as a geologist etc. Still climbing mountains, kayaking, cycling, motorcycling and generally enjoying life to the full.

Upon graduation, my plans of attending UBC to attain a teaching degree were stymied as my father harpooned me to work for him in his machine shop in the downtown eastside. As Girl Friday there, I ended up staying 33 years, 16 with my dad, and the next 17 for the new owner. After closing in '02, I have spent the last 6 years at a contracting firm in Burnaby, still in administration. I have not been a huge mover either, going from growing up on W19th, moving all the way up the hill to W14th. Married to George for 34 years now, having no kids allowed us to do a lot of travelling over the years, which we both enjoy, our newest love being New York City. We also love to spend time with our little 14 yr.old poodle, walking in the Endowment Lands, and enjoy good friends, music, food and vino. Really looking forward to seeing the old gang. Thanks to the organizers for a great job.

I have 3 adult step-sons, 3 young grandchildren, and 2 large dogs. My husband and I retired from the Vancouver School Board recently and moved to Gabriola Island where we have relatives living close by. We love the relaxed pace of life. We have time to go for long walks with the dogs, read all the books we want, ride our bikes, row a boat around our bay, play with the granchildren, and pet a donkey when the mood strikes us. (Life has had its ups and downs but this is definitely a good bit). I look forward to seeing everyone in October!

Recently moved back to the westcoast (Victoria) after living 16 years in Winnipeg.    I had hoped to be an LPN (practical nurse) but found it physically challenging as I never did hit the 5 foot mark. You will all know me at the reunion as I am still as short as ever!
